Mariana Smith Is an Associate Professor of Visual Art and a program chairperson at the Stockton University, NJ. She received a BFA specializing in painting and folk art from Moscow College of Applied and Industrial Arts in Moscow, Russia. After immigrating to the USA in 1992, she received a BFA with an emphasis on printmaking from the Columbus College of Art and Design and an MFA from the Cornell University.

In her studio, Mariana Smith combines printmaking, miniature painting, and video installation to address the nature of immigrant dislocations and an unrealized dream of homeland.

Smith’s work has been exhibited in the USA, Bulgaria, Taiwan, China, Italy, Ireland, UK, New Zealand, Guam, and Armenia, and was displayed at the State of Ohio Governor’s Mansion in Columbus, Ohio.

Artist residencies include Kala Art Institute, Berkely, California; Art Print Residency, Arenys De Munt, Spain; International printmaking workshop in Auckland, New Zealand; Scuola Internazionale di Grafica di Venezia in Venice, Italy; International Printmaking Workshop, Xi'an, China, GCAC Dresden Residency in Dresden, Germany, Vermont Studio Center, and Fedoskino Lacquer Miniature Factory in Russia.
